About the Conference

 SOCIOLOGICAL SURVEYS OF PUBLIC OPINION IN SOUTHEAST EUROPE:
CROSS-NATIONAL COMPARATIVE STUDIES

Cluj-Napoca, Romania, August 31-September 2, 2007

The purpose of this conference is to bring together scholars from the international academic community interested in the state of public opinion survey research in Southeast Europe (SEE) to: (a) discuss methodology, theory and social problems related to survey research in SEE countries, and (b) examine specific data sets and evaluate their usefulness for cross-national comparisons.  We will focus on four data sets: Social Stratification in Eastern Europe after 1989 (SSEE, Treiman and Szelenyi 1993), Poverty, Ethnicity, and Gender in Eastern Europe (PEGEE, Szelenyi 2002,), the European Social Survey (ESS, Rogers 2007), and The South-East European Social Survey Project (SEESSP, Simkus 2006).
